Just Because You Can Doesn't Mean You Should

Natalie MacNeil on AI ethics, cloning yourself, and the parallel economy women are already building

Amber here!

We finally got Natalie MacNeil on the record.

Natalie and I have known each other for around 15 years, wow - it’s wild to type that. You’ll soon come to see why Natalie is someone to know.

She’s an Emmy Award-winning creator, she’s building what she calls ethical and embodied AI dream teams with her clients, and she has opinions. I’m curious to see where you agree and disagree and if this conversation with Natalie shifts anything for you.

Our conversation went places we didn’t even plan.

We covered:

  • The ethical line Natalie won’t cross

  • The “just because you can doesn’t mean you should” argument for content creation right now

  • Her parallel economy framework and why she thinks purchasing power is the actual revolution

  • The humanoid robot debate, and why do the robots have to look so human

  • What we’re both telling our teenagers about college

  • Whether cloning yourself and selling access to it crosses a line, and where Khaïry and I landed

It was so fun to introduce Natalie and Khaïry – they hit it off immediately.

I spent most of the episode trying to find something to disagree with Natalie on. Listen in to see how it turned out.

We are excited to hear what you think.
